Who's getting the most out of Confession

In my parish we have confession everyday before mass except Sundays. Every group you mentioned is represented just about everyday. It’s wonderful, almost miraculous. Certainly inspiring. Sometimes the celebrant of the mass announces he will be available to hear confessions after the Mass for a stated amount of time. One heroic priest didn’t specify and was still there (after a 9am mass) at 1:30pm. I know because that’s when he heard my confession after I waited about 3hours for my turn. He was incredible, complete with personal prayer and spiritual direction. (He was a visiting priest.)

Needless to say, this parish places a high priority on spiritual growth, personal holiness and pray life development. :gopray:
 
I go to confession near where I work, so those going are mostly working people on their lunch hour. And there’s always a line.
 
I answer, that those souls who give the most ( a complete accurate and “perfect” confession in perfect contrition for their past sins), “get” the most out of it.
 
I go to Confession at Our Lady of Lourdes in Decatur, IL. I don’t attend Mass there, but their Saturday morning time of confession is perfect for me-I can go right after my Holy Hour and before I do the grocery shopping.

Anyway, I am always so pleased and humbled when I go there. There is always a line outside Fr. Carlos’s confessional-people waiting in line to confess is a beautiful sight. What is also amazing is that there are always different kinds of people in line. I see young kids and teenagers, the elderly, the middle-aged, parents and children, men, women, etc.-every type of person you can think of. It is truly awe-inspiring and humbling to see this.

Anyway, at my parish we have a lot of little old ladies in the line, but we at least have as many little old men. To be fair, though, I would have to say that we have quite a cross-section of folks in the line, all ages. We only have Confession at 3:30 pm on Saturdays, until all are heard, or by appointment. I wish we had regularly scheduled Confession in the evening during the week, but we do not.

I get so much out of Confession–I go often, usually twice a month and sometimes three times monthly. I get so much from telling my sins, and even more from the penances My priest is quite gifted in this area, I think, as he gives me penances that are always very poignant and humbling. I feel so blessed because of them!
