Why and how is homosexuality is considered a sin?

Such an pollyannaish appraisal does not lend much confidence.
I basically predicted that the Church will become more and more isolated from a decadent, popular culture-driven society, but will possibly end with the Second Coming as the Church began - with a smaller number of persecuted believers.

If you call that worldview “pollyannaish,” I think you and I (and probably Eleanor H. Porter) have very different definitions of the meaning of that word.

Although, I suspect that liberal/secularists may have overestimated the groundswell of popular approval for homosexual marriages. Part of the problem may be that opinion polls are primarily collected via telephone, and due to the media and popular culture support for homosexual marriage, some respondents may feel embarrassed by telling someone they don’t feel that homosexual marriages are valid.

The end result is likely to be that outside of a few liberal enclaves, the members of churches that celebrate “diversity” and “inclusion” may vote with their feet, as with this church:

A Protestant minister who spoke out on behalf of homosexual marriage, in apparent defiance of the orthodox views of the members of his congregation, found out that most of his congregation is leaving over the issue, and despite financial infusion from gay organizations, he will probably have to close his church.

This can happen when each man can interpret the Bible as he wishes - your fellow worshippers may not agree with your (trendy) particular interpretation.

Is there not a sticky on this topic? Why does it get rehashed every week? 🤷

Probably for the same reason that masturbation, annulments, NFP, Hell, human suffering, EF vs. OF, et c. get re-hashed every week. People either don’t know how to work the search function, or they’re trying to make a point. 🤷

You don’t have to search this one! It’s right there on top of the page! Just click on it!

Surely you’re not suggesting that people read the page to see if any applicable threads exist before clicking the “New Thread” button…? ;)😛

I guess what I’m thinking is that it makes us look like we’re obsessed with homosexuality as an issue because we talk about it so much.

In one sense I agree, but simply pick up a newspaper (or read online, whatever). We here are not obsessed with it; it’s our culture that has suddenly gone wacky and obsesses over it!

If I were on a mathematics discussion forum and the popular culture – including some mathematicians – declared the “right” that 2+2 = 5, would it be an obsession to politely and logically refute such nonsense?

Not if it had already been completely refuted and the documentation clearly posted where anyone with eyes could see it. Continuing to raise an already “asked and answered” question does speak of some kind of obsession to me.

I’ve read a couple of those threads…and even posted in them-but dear Lord-they go on for PAGES saying the same thing over and over.

Posting that Church teaching on Homosexuality can be found in the sticky above could sure save a lot of people from carpel tunnel.

This thread is now closed. Thank you to all who contributed to the discussion. As suggested by the above posters, for Church teaching on same-sex issues, please see the sticky at the top of the forum: Church Teaching on Same Sex Issues
