Why are Catholic news sites so depressing?

Whichever one I go to it seems more depressing than secular news sites, all it is about is negativity, abuse, bad stuff etc.

Why don’t they counterbalance it with good things happening in the church, maybe even conversion stories etc.

It’s like an anti-theist runs them.

Bizarre.
 
Because The Church is also going through a very depressing time right now and we should focus on those issues. But yea, a few good stories wouldn’t be so bad.
 
I try not to read news stories at all but I did search for good news a few days ago and found a very nice site with only pleasant news on. Very refreshing.

These days if I want drama I read my bank statement.
 
Because the mainstream Catholic news sites are no different than FOX or CNN. They pick the low-hanging fruit and sensationalize it. Read your Sunday bulletin. It’s always better.

priesthood. The last thing you want to do is cover it up. That is how this stuff gets started in the
first place.

Then you have the liberals making the Church out to be just another social service instead of carrying out the key mission given to the Church by Christ…the salvation of souls. The USCCB seems to be just another lobby of the democratic party, the same political party that lays waste to the life teachings of Jesus and they wonder why nobody listens to them or trusts them. So that unfortunately becomes news.

I am grateful for excellent Catholic journalists like Edward Pentin who are doing great work making sure we are aware of what is going on. Unfortunately it is mostly bad but perhaps Our Lady is cleaning house. If you want to get away from it all for a spell read the great encyclicals of past Popes.
 
I wouldn’t say it is about covering things up, the secular media is depressing but they will have something about a person getting to 100 years old which is nice or child writes letter to the queen.

Why no nice things as well as the bad?

Do you place St. Teresa of Calcutta in that group of liberals? Just curious how far you will go to discount the corporal works of mercy as not being authentically Catholic.

Catholic news sites also talk about good stuff too. I listen to EWTN radio everyday and I read national catholic register. It’s not all depressing.
