why? I know plenty of vegatarians who don’t consider fish meat. It’s not an outlandish notion. YOu just have different criteria. I also know vegatrians that eat diary. That’s not outlandish either.
Yeah, i got a crash course in the different kinds of vegetarianism the other day. There are vegans ( I believe they will only eat things that have naturally fallen off the plants), vegetarians (only plant products), pescatarians (plant products and fish), and ovolacto vegetarians who see nothing wrong with eggs or dairy products.

Basically, there are many different groupings of vegetarian, and you really cannot say that one group is vegetarian and the others are not.

It is hard to discuss because there are so many definitions of vegetarian, it is not just they do not eat meat, because some consider fish not to be meat.

Exactly my point. If they eat fish they are not vegetarians. it is not my criteria, it is the definition. Vegetarians eat dairy and eggs, just nothing that the animal inherently has to die in order for it to be acquired. vegans eat no animal products at all. There is a history behind these terms as well.

Yes, the term “pescaterian” does exist, but these are not vegetarians. They eat fish as their only meat, but they still eat meat. A vegetarian eats no meat.

It sounds as if it is a holdover from the Jewish laws regarding Kashrut. Fish were not considered meat, probably because they didn’t “bleed”
Everything in the Catholic Faith is a “holdover” from the Jewish religion. Better put, Catholicism is the fulfillment of Judism.

I have not come to abolish them
but to fulfill them.

heaven and earth pass away, not
an iota, not a dot, will pass from
the Law until all is accomplished

Judaism remains fullfilling all on its own. I simply meant that fish was never viewed as meat by Jews.
