Why are old threads being resurrected?

I just found that I posted to two threads that are old…one is years old and another is from last spring. Why/How is this happening?

Because old threads never die; they just get bumped away?
 
My guess is people search for something and then post in the thread with out checking the date on it. 🤷
 
Ha ha you guys are funny. Actually, it’s not because of a search because I am the first one to post to Pre-marital Depression below and I did not find it by a search. I wonder if it has something to do with whatever updates, etc is happening to the site.

Probably not, it happens all the time.
 
You probably clicked on a link from another post. Also, the “related threads” box that sometimes appears on the bottom of the page will contain old threads.

I’ve NEVER seen an old thread appear on the “main” forum view, until someone replies to it and resurrects it.

I’m not sure how people are finding these old threads to resurrect, but I’ve noticed that, when an old thread is resurrected, the person who did it is a new forum member almost 100% of the time. There must be something that new forum members are doing while trying to learn the site that’s leading them to these threads. :confused:

“baylee” as far as I know, they get bumped to the top… whenever someone does a search… and reply. Even in an old thread. 😃
 
I’ll update my old threads when something really cool happens that is related to it

I think its worse to make an entirelly new thread for an update.
 
And sometimes people bump up old threads so others who have been discussing that topic or are looking for posts from a certain member can reference them. Not everyone “does links” well.

I don’t see it much in the Catholic Answers fora but it’s pretty common on other internet message boards to occasionally bump up old threads for no reason other than nostalgia.
 
What I’ve noticed is that when a really old thread has gotten bumped, it is usually by a really new person, like with less than 5 posts. I think they stumbled on the forums while searching for something and find a post that meets the criteria, they sign up and respond, not realizing that it is an ancient thread. Then we see it as a current thread and start posting to it until someone notices that it is ancient history.
