Why are Psychics and Mediums wrong?

I have a question concerning the the use of psychic abilities and mediumship. Why does the Catholic Church say that it is wrong to do? I have some abilities and I don’t want to give them up to stay with my faith. I want to believe that the Trinity gave these unique gifts to us, but doctrine says otherwise. I have no idea of what to do.
