It is for things like that that St. Peter said you have to be prepared to defend your faith. Best thing you can do is learn you faith well and be able to explain to people their misconceptions of what they believe the Church stands for. Even if they don’t accept it others who hear the argument might recognize your arguments for what they are ---- the truth.

Excellent point. You can also pray for those who dismiss you–or appear to do so! Whether they’re not going back to you, as sad as it may look, is not what is more important, if another Catholic can reach them and succeed. We are not alone, thanks be to God!

Don’t let them get to you. Turn it around, and pray that their eyes, minds, and hearts be open to the truth.

They’ll get their surprise at the end of their time on Earth, and learn the truth.

ETA: It is best to develop a thick skin when it comes to these things. We are going to see alot more of this since the Mayan Calendar ends this year, and some people think it signals the end of days.
