Why can't a Catholic and an unbaptized person get married within Mass?

I want to explain to a couple why a Catholic and an unbaptized person cannot get married within the Mass.

Because baptism is the gateway to the other sacraments and because a nuptial Mass is held in conjunction with the celebration of the sacrament of matrimony. If the couple has not received the sacrament of matrimony, there cannot be a Mass offered in conjunction with something that has not happened.
