Why can't homosexuals see that their behavior is an abomination?

Peter,

I am willing to learn. Name the sins that Jesus told people that were disgusting and an abomination. I believe that we all can learn from this. Thank you.
Although you have distorted my statement to claim that Jesus condemned the** people themselves, not their sins, **which I specifically said he did NOT do, in fact for example He told the Pharisees to their faces that they were the offspring of venomous snakes, and He even called St Peter the ultimate insulting name “Satan”, because St Peter had done what he and we would have seen as just an innocent mistake and in fact trying to be helpful and loving.

But people have different ways of determining what is right or wrong. Morality is subjective. I don’t see why you think they should come to the same conclusions as you.

Not if you don’t believe in sins, they’re not. You’ve kind of contradicted what I said in the last sentence. You’ve made the assertion that everyone possess the same morality as you regardless of religion so should realise that homosexuality is disgusting even if they don’t believe in sins, and then said that homosexuality is disgusting because it is a sin. Doesn’t make sense.
If you want to debate the general basis of morality, ask the question in a new thread. It is totally off topic here.

Peter,

Here is what you said…
The OP did NOT call any person disgusting. He said that homosexual BEHAVIOUR is disgusting. Your response says more about your attitude than the OP’s.
And Jesus whilst on earth certainly had** no hesitation in telling people **
that their sins (not they themselves) were disgusting and an abomination./

I asked…

How is it you claim I twisted words to claim that people were disgusting…I used the same words you did, name the sins…people are the vehicles of sins…what sins were disgusting and an abomination?

Each time Jesus showed mercy, He either explicitly stated “Sin no more,” (to the woman who was going to be stoned for committing adultery) or implicitly demanded or required that the person change their ways. That is the part that many people want to forget. Our pastor spoke beautifully about that this weekend via the Three Wise Man. They were drawn to Christ and his love and beauty, and brought their gifts, but then they had to follow “a different path” after they left Him.

Jesus calls all of us to follow that different path. He died for our sins. What greater statement is there than this? He loves us so much THAT He forgives us and then gives us the grace we need to “Sin no more.”

No matter WHAT the sin, He wants us to stop doing it. And he clearly stated fornication, etc., in his teachings were sin, even though He may not have specifically called them “abominations.”. He clearly said that He was not changing the Law that the Jews knew, and in the Old Testament, they all were called abominations. But the difference is–He wanted us to live the Spirit of the Law, and as our loving Savior, he would give us the grace to fight those sins and try to live like Him.

He loves us all.

I think what people tend to forget is what Jesus did FIRST. He did NOT tell people to “go change and then I’ll forgive you”. The FIRST thing He offers is his grace and mercy-which is what provides the motivation and strength for the person to change. What WE want is for people to change their lives FIRST and then we’ll allow them to be part of our little club.

Change is hard, and Jesus knows it. That’s why He shows us grace and mercy first. It is the desire to get closer to the One who granted us mercy that provides the desire to change, and it is the power of God that gives us the strength to do it.

Seeker,

Which is easier…to say your sins are forgiven or to say get up and walk…both infer change.
