One of our RCIA elect, remarried outside the church, has not yet been granted an annulment for his first marriage, thus preventing the blessing of his current message, and therefore will not be able to be received into the church this coming Easter vigil.
At the RCIA retreat this weekend, the poor fellow was told he could not participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation due to his marriage circumstances. Why not? Ok, so he can’t yet be fully received into the church and Eucharist, etc. Why should that preclude reconciliation? (He was validly baptized as a child.)
