Why is it that the Church forbids women in the priesthood?
I know this question has already been asked, but the answer confused me.
It said that women can’t be priests because Jesus chose to come to us specifically as a man. I don’t mean to be rude, but I really don’t get that, because:
a. Jesus had to come as either a man or a woman, just like He had to have some color eyes and hair, and be some height. That doesn’t make it a qualification for being a priest.
b. He also chose to be born specifically in Bethlehem, but not all Catholics live there.
I’ve also heard that this is because His disciples were all male, but He also had very devout followers who were women. It was also a woman (Mary Magdelen) who saw first saw Him risen. Mary is given the highest honor given to a human, as the Queen of Heaven.
Also, in there are some cases in which men who convert to Catholicism who are already married and priests are allowed to serve both vocations. Could there not be special cases for women, too?
