Why devotion to Mary and the saints?

one who never prays to Mary nor any of the Saints but goes directly to Jesus is equally a perfectly good Catholic.

i would like to know if this statement is in line with church teachings if So Can you explain to me the meaing of the creed when we say i Believe in the communion of saintsTY GBY JMJ
