Why did God create us?

A Mormon friend of mine recently asked me what the Catholic stance is on WHY God created us. Apparently, the Mormons have some sort of explanation of their own, but I’d like to know what the Cactholic stance is.
In essence, I want to know what Catholics have to say regarding WHY God created us.

Many Catholics probably remember the Baltimore Catechism’s answer to this question:

Q. Why did God make you?
A. God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him for ever in heaven.

Here is an excerpt from the Catechism of the Church (356-358) on the matter:

Of all visible creatures only man is able to know and love his creator. He is the only creature on earth that God has willed for its own sake, and he alone is called to share, by knowledge and love, in God’s own life. It was for this end that he was created, and this is the fundamental reason for his dignity… God created everything for man, but man in turn was created to serve and love God and to offer all creation back to him.
