Why did God give me flesh
So that I can address
All my sinful bests

Why did God give me flesh
To ponder the reasons
Why I lay here in my breath

Why did God give me flesh
To cry aloud within my being
To haunt me in my dreaming

Why did God give me flesh
To tear away at all the rest
While I mourn at my nest

Why did God give me flesh
To see my ways in what I am
To ponder what it means to be a man

Why did God give me flesh
To test me and give him my best
So that I am deemed worthy to eternal happiness

Why did God give me flesh
As I lay here dreaming
Crying, sleeping, morning, weeping

Why did God give me flesh
To dwell here in my sorrowfulness
They mock me in there cowardliness

Why did God give me flesh
To light the world on fire
If only it was holy to put my sins so lowly

Why did God give me flesh
I have no answers yet
I will love you without regret

Why did God give me flesh
My spirit is in the sky
My flesh will one day die

Why did God give me flesh
To bask in his holiness
And never forget my lowliness

Why did God give me flesh…
To one day see that I will be
With Him in the eternal sea

Thank you God for my flesh
Please help me put it to rest
So that I can be with you so blessed

To be flesh is such a great wealth that the same Divine Word was made flesh, and three days after His death, He resurrected, and in His resurrection He is the promise of our own resurrection. We will be forever flesh, and reflect this way the Glory of God.

Saying it like that sounds like its better for God to have a body. Is that potency?
 
No. I am debating people on another thread on whether God has potency of any kind

Mmmh, the God of Aristotle did not have any passive potency, and He was the intelligence of Himself, because there was nothing outside Him with sufficient dignity.

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel finds His delight among our sons, and He calls us by our name before we are born. He breaks our poor mental schemes. If you can conceive an idea about Him, then it is not Him.
 
Some ideas of Him are closer than others, but God is more different than any one of them than like any one
 
Ive pondered this many times too, seems highly strange God would give us a crazy sex drive ( or even make sex a desirable thing for humans in the first place), when we are a fallen species? We know in many species of animals, sex is NOT something pleasurable, they only do it for reproduction, so why give such a fallen race as humans, such a pleasurable feeling method to reproduce?

IMO, this would the same thing as telling a kid that LOVES candy, that he must work in candy store 7 days a week and cannot touch one single piece of candy at any time…of course that kid is going to give in, probably many times…??

To know how close an idea is to its correlative object, you need to know the object. But you don’t know God, so you can’t know how close your ideas are to Him. All your ideas have been obtained in relation to our mundane experience. The thought I have expressed is not mine but St John of the Cross: if you can conceive God, then it is not God. I think this great christian mystic knew what he was saying.

Since we act rationally, we would not reproduce the species without a drive so strong and sensitively pleasurable that it eclipsed reason’s ability to function in that instant. But, that is the reason of matrimony - rational direction of the use of the appetite in a rationally ordered way - toward its use in propagation and preparation of a next generation suitable to the common good. (a virtuous kid in the candy store - virtue has to do with reasoned good and love of that good alone)
