Why did God give us feelings if they cannot be trusted

Why are we made with the tendency toward pride? How much easier would love be if most humans had no ego.
Feelings are fleeting. Feelings are primal. When will we evolve past them?
Only a fool is ruled by their emotions, led astray or blinded by them.
Whenever is it ever good to have an emotional response or make a choice based on emotions alone

If you didn’t have ‘feelings’ you would not have a love for God, a capacity for love or for any mortal being. You would be a blank page where nothing is written upon-like automation-wind me up and watch me go. With the absence of ‘feelings’ is also the absence of free will.
god knew what He was doing when He gave us feelings. I think maybe you are equating feelings with vanity and ego and not defining the difference. While they compliment one another in a sense there is a separation and yet an overlapping. It is what makes us human and not like the Zombies we just read about.

No feelings?? Not being able to love, not being able to care for one another?? Your not a fool to have emotions for someone, when you know in your heart that this is right. The biggest lost without having any love or emotions is not having Jesus in your life. Where would your life be? I see an empty life. May the love and mercy of Christ find it’s way to everyone. God bless you.

Feelings aren’t all bad, like joy or wistfulness.
Probably in Eden their minds, hearts and souls were all in harmony.

People who take anti-depressants - I find - are somewhat non emotional.

And narcissists. People with these huge mean egos.
They push their feelings ( conscience ) aside - and act like beast.
Evilution

Our feelings, like the North Korean regime, can be trusted but only if verified. The verification tool for us is our intellect. We ought to be ruled by our reason, merely moved by our passions.

A passion in the presence of a real good moves us to possess that good. Passions are morally good when they contribute to a good action.

There is some current psychological research which suggests that emotions help us make better decisions. In other words, trying to sedate our emotions might NOT be good for our rational thought process. Apart from this, I agree that emotions make our lives harder in a way, not only when we have excessive emotions about something or someone, but also when we have conflicting emotions. But that is all part of being human. We are sometimes guided by our emotions and our gut feelings, and that is not always so bad even though when we allow emotions to rule our reason in all or most situations, we may very well get into trouble and cause trouble for others as well as experience a lot of stress. So it is a balancing act when it comes to expressing our emotions and controlling and regulating them. But who says this earthly life is supposed to be always easy, calm, and peaceful? Life is not only a process of change and learning but also an emotional experience, the grand emotional ride.

But can’t an angel love God?

See St. Thomas Aquinas, “Summa Theologica”, First Part of the Second part, Question 24 “Of Good and Evil in the Passions of the Soul” (http://dhspriory.org/thomas/summa/FS/FS024.html#FSQ24OUTP1). He writes, for example, “The passions of the soul, in so far as they are contrary to the order of reason, incline us to sin: but in so far as they are controlled by reason, they pertain to virtue.”.

Feelings are a bit like heuristics. They give an answer that is likely to be suboptimal, but they take less time. Sometimes time is important - if one sees a man in danger during fire, there is no time to start reasoning from first principles. In such case it is more reasonable simply to hope that in this case one’s feelings will suggest a decision that is not too suboptimal - the work of taking those feelings under control had to be done until then.

Feelings also can help one to act in accordance with reason. For example, fear or anger can cause secretion of adrenaline, making one stronger and more alert for some time.
