Why did Jesus tell Jairus and family not to tell about his daughter miracle?

I’ve wondered if, like all of us, he wanted to be loved for who he was more than for what he could do. Did you ever have a friend who sort of used you to get at something great you had or could do, but had no real affection for you? In Matt 12 and 16 Jesus seems exasperated when some ask him for a miraculous sign. Even in my own prayers I wonder if I end up treating him like a heavenly vending machine.

And a miracle is just for this life. Both Jairus’ daughter and Lazarus ended up dying permanently eventually. But Jesus’ words are the keys to eternal life, and they work eternally good things into our character, like all the fruits of the spirit. The real treasures are in his words.
