he resigned because of ill health and old age.

all these conspiracy theories.

This guy looks like a very reliable source.

There are never any lies on the Internet.

some people when elderly do find it difficult with international travel and national travel and local duties.

And that is not an unreasonable expectation.

When Pope Benedict was first elected, I remember his brother was very worried about him because of his ill health.

What gets me are these people who all during his pontificate did nothing but criticize and complain about Pope Benedict and everything tat he did. Now that he is retired they do nothing but criticize and complain about Pope Francis and talk about how wonderful Pope Benedict was and how he is their Pope.

I do wonder whatever happened to the dossier of problems Benedict felt he was too weak to deal with, and which he explicitly left to his successor to deal with.

I like listening to Dr. Taylor Marshall. Started watching this yesterday, but didn’t finish it yet.

He resigned five months ahead of World Youth Day in Rio de Janeiro. I think the prospect must have been a daunting one, not only in terms of an exhausting travel schedule but doubts about whether he had what it takes to make a success of it. Benedict always was a quiet, retiring, bookish theologian. He was never a Billy Graham.
