I noticed that a lot of the bible is history (kings, the gospels, acts) and I was wondering why did the bible stop right there? Why wern’t there more histories (at the very least) written under divine insperation? I would figure that it would be a rather nifty ting to have. a history of the church.

My immediate reaction to this question was to think, “Well, why not there?” …
On further thought…:hmmm: …Holy Scripture serves the purpose of preserving God’s words to us in written from, for our salvation.
It makes sense that at some point, Gow will have given us all the Holy Scripture we need. How wise He is! :bowdown2:

Since public revelation ceased with the death of the last apostle, the revelation of Jesus Christ was then complete. The history of the Church starts on Pentecost Sunday. All that we have (in the bible) of the history of the early Church is found in the Acts of the Apostles and other new testament books. But since public revelation then ceased, any further written church histories, (such as that written by Eusebius) cannot be part of the bible.

One reason might be that the first Christians expected Jesus’ Second Coming in glory sometime during their lifetime at which time history as they knew it would cease. There would be no need to write a history for future generations to read because they weren’t expecting future generations.
