Why did you name your guardian angel?

Guardian angels are Jesus’ angels. They are not our pets. We don’t have the authority to name them. Respect their dignity. If you named your guardian angel, perhaps you did it out of a desire to know him better. This is understandable.

I suggest asking her to pray with you and protect you throughout the day. Call him or her “guardian angel”. We do not know their names unless revealed to us by God. They have no gender so I use both him or her.
 
Huh? Who are you addressing? I never gave my guardian angel a name at all. Neither has anyone I know. I somehow get the feeling this post fell through a dimensional vortex and ended up here. 😃

Ditto. I use neither name nor gender and have always simply referred to them as guardian angel. I know some “psychics” encourage people to discover their guardian angel’s name and perhaps there are those that then use that name, but I don’t know anyone in real life that does. Even if they do, I have no way to know if it was revealed to them so leave it between them, their angel and God.

No, me either. I just address mine as “Guardian Angel.” 🙂
 
I had an exnun teacher in elementary school who had us name our guardian angels. At the time, I chose “Guidance” because that was the least presumptive thing I could imagine.

As I became not 13, I stopped using any kind of name.
 
No I never named mine. I did in a sense have…idk if it was my direct or another bc I was aware of him for a short time prior to seeing some stuff of interest…

Anyway I was given a name by which to refer to it but it was never assumed the true name as it was for my comprehension. I and a friend at about 12 each experienced this at the same time until the incident where such direct involvement ceased. 2 Angels, 2 names, and each seemed given for our comfort.
 
I call my Angel “Guardian Angel”. I know they are not male or female but traditionally Angels have been portrayed and referred to in the masculine, so I do that too.

A lot of people do name their Guardian Angels and there have been threads here in the past on this topic, so I’m not surprised at the topic.

As most posters have already said, it should not be done, so I’m glad for this thread, to remind people that it’s not a good idea to name their Guardian Angels. Maybe someone who didn’t know this will read this thread and learn from it.

You are welcome. I too have heard someone who named her guardian angel and I immediately thought, “Not a pet”. Alas, there is a part of our society in which angels have been tamed to refrigerator magnets and happy cards.
 
Yeah, I mean, as I said, I had an exnun in Catholic elementary school getting a room full of 8th graders to do that. SO, I know at least 2O some Christians who did at one time name their guardian angels.
Seems like a legit problem.

Some Catholics just don’t know any better, like that ex-nun. It helps when they are taught by
someone with authority.
