Modern humans of European/Asian descent share 1-4% of our DNA with neanderthals and there is strong evidence humans interbred with neanderthals at one point around 40,000 years ago. It has been determined neanderthals also had the FOXP2 gene associated with language development and speech. Furthermore neanderthals used tools and created what we would consider very primitive art. They would most likely have the intellectual capacity to ask “Why am I here”? What makes our species within the great apes and other primates more special than others or more special than the now extinct Homo neanderthalensis, a separate species? We surely destroy the planet, cause other species to become extinct, and slaughter eachother at the greatest rate of any species in the animal kingdom.

Homo sapiens and neaderthalensis are scientifc classifications which may not have much validity outside of their describing morphological differences between different groups of human beings.
I agree with your sentiments about the planet. We were created to tend to it, and we have done as good a job at that, as we have done in terms of caring for one another.

And that failure makes us special? 🤷

We are rational beings with free will.
We chose ourselves over God.
Although we are eternal in nature, this choice brought death, in its many forms, into our world.
But, the Word of God became incarnate as a human being.
And, this has allowed us the possibility of entering into the same loving relationship that exists within the Trinity.
Through us, creation is able to return the love whereby all is brought into being.

Who said they were doomed?

Christ’s sacrifice was for all human persons, so I would think that included Neanderthanls and all of those among us that are their descendents.

Actually, there were a couple of Neanderthals in my high school gym class…

So it is now proven that Man evolved from Neanderthals ?

You wrote, “We are rational beings with free will. We chose ourselves over God. Although we are eternal in nature, this choice brought death, in its many forms, into our world.”

Are you saying that there was no “physical death” in the world before “We chose ourselves over God” since, in your words, “this choice brought death, in its many forms, into our world”?

Was “Christ’s sacrifice” just for “human persons” or could it have been for ALL OF CREATION?

The human species descended from a population of two real fully-complete human persons, lovingly referrred to as Adam and Eve. It is because of the God created spiritual soul that Adam and Eve’s anatomies made of matter became a living human body. As human persons, created in the image of God, Adam and Eve were at once corporeal and spiritual. The rational spiritual soul does not evolve.

I agree, and I know God did not need to use evolution for his creations. 🙂

Were Neanderthals descended from Adam and Eve, or were they before Adam and Eve?

If Neanderthals were true humans, then they would have descended from Adam and Eve who are the first humans on earth.

If Neanderthals were not true humans, then they would be separate from Adam and Eve and could have lived before or after Adam and Eve founded humankind.

Well, which is it? Yes or no?

Some people speculate yes and some speculate no. What is important is that all real humans descend from Adam and Eve. Sorry, but that is the best
I can do. :o
I am in the minority which speculates no. My reasoning is private.
