Why didn't Jesus come to Earth SOONER after Adam and Eve's first sin?

After Adam and Eve’s first sin was committed, why did God wait around 4,000 years to send Jesus to earth? Why didn’t the incarnation occur right after? The souls of those loyal to God before Christ’s death must have wondered why God didn’t do this earlier for them since they were stuck in a certain layer of Hell for so long.

When and if we arrive in heaven, we can ask Him. Short of that, expecting to understand completely the why’s of God’s plans is a bit like expecting my cat to understand why I do what I do the way I do it.

Christians do not expect to be able to fully understand God’s plans. That inability does not constitute an argument (as some atheists would have it) against the existence of God: existence is not dependent on our complete understanding.

He came in the fullness of time, just when God planned for Him to come. Sounds perfect to me. Where ever we end up we will know we deserve to be there. (and that’s not a rummie)

Note that God did a lot of preparing through gradual revelation of Himself in the Old Testament.

At the same time He did a lot of preparing in the non-Jewish world to ready it to receive the message.

Roman eliminated the Evil Empire of Carthage and provided as good as world as paganism could provide. Republican Rome carried pagan ethics to their highest ability; man could not reach higher by himself. Christianity would have had a far harder time growing in Carthage.

Also Rome provided a good transportation system in a well policed world which facilitated the extensive and rabid travel of the missionaries.

All in all a lot of substructure was in place when Jesus finally did come.

== I think it was because the Incarnation had to be preceded by a lot of education of the human race - one does not expect a baby to translate the NT aged six months; one waits until he a knows a great deal more about the NT, OT, the Bible, and very much more. Which takes many years. Nature is not accelerated by God, except in certain miracles - why should the moral and spiritual history of the human race be “forced” in such a way ? Anything worthwhile, takes time.

Maybe God’s patience, and entire moral character, required that Israel be chosen, adopted, educated, over centuries. Had He revealed Himself in Christ forthwith, how little we would have learned of Him before He did so !

FWIW - God is not constraimed by time and space: but we, are It sems that before and after and the measure of time have meaning only for us; animals sense that that there is succession. ==

Part of the Catholic definition of Faith is to know God has a plan.

We do not need to know or even understand His plan, we must just have Faith in His plan.

So, the answer is, who cares? Just have Faith, show Love in all you do and have a Hope for salvation. That is what St. Paul teaches us, Scripture tells us, and the Catholic Church instills in us.

Worry about things you can change and understand and put your Faith in God for those you cannot. Faith is not limited to belief in Jesus. Faith is wonderfull and one of the three greatest gifts we have from God while on earth. We loose the need for Faith upon earning our salvation before Jesus Christ our personnal Lord and savior.

I believe it was Origen who once said that just as the Law educated the Jews, Philosophy **educated **the Greeks, and thru the latter the Romans, to enable both of them to receive the Word of God later.

God has been preparing His people through the passing of centuries, and indeed the whole world for the coming of His Son. And the coming of the Roman Empire unified the known ancient world as one, from Spain to Asia Minor, from Northern Africa in the south to parts of Germany in the north, which made possible the spread of political stability, as well as peace and order. Wars between petty kingdoms would have hindered more rather than help the spread the Gospel to the four corners of the ancient world, and Pax Romana made it all possible. This is all part of God’s great plan.

Are you implying that all-mighty God needed infrastructure to spread His message of salvation? Then why didn’t He wait until there was air travel to all continents? And television to broadcast his miracles? Why was Europe so important but Asia and the Americas not so much?

The only answer to the question is this: We have no idea why God did what He did. It makes no sense to us.
