Why didn't the apostles go to China?

I was asked why the apostles didn’t go to China and other Asian countries. Were they allowed to travel outside of the Roman empire? We are studying Acts of the Apostles and wondered why none of the apostles went to the Far East.

Actually, tradition has it that the Apostle Thomas (the Doubter) went to India. In any event, it is likely that the apostles went as far as they could given the limitations of travel in their day (which does not mean that they were “prevented” by Roman authorities but that there is only so far that one man can walk in undeveloped territory). Just as westward expansion in the United States took decades to accomplish, so it should not be a surprise that it took centuries for the Christian faith to be spread throughout the world.
