Why do Catholics believe that the end is coming in 2012?

I was told by Catholic Family members that the world was coming to and end in 2012. My Family seems to already know that A. They are going to heaven B. That I can go however there are certian things a Luteran like myself has to do first.

Questions

1. What Are those " Things I am to Do"
2. What makes catholics think they are automatically going?

3 When were t A they .told the world was coming to an end and B. Who informed them of their final destination ?

Hi,

I don’t know why your Catholic family members said that. It is not a teaching of the Catholic Church. Jesus said that only the Father knows when. The Catholic Church teaches that we must remain faithful to the end or we could go to Hell. Catholics do NOT think that they are automatically going to heaven. Certainly, Lutherans can go to heaven. Like Catholics, they must remain faithful to the Lord until the die.
