Where in the Old Testament does it claim that the worship of Ancient Israel --which is prescribed in the Old Testament, as directed by God – came into being because it is a foreshadowing of Jesus Christ?
I doubt it would say that in the Old Testament… that’d be kind of a giveaway! 😉

But there are many individual elements of Israel’s cultic worship that point to the priesthood of Jesus Christ: the sacrificing of a lamb at Passover; the “scapegoat” of Yom Kippur on whom all the sins of the people are laid and which is sent out in the wilderness to die; the Ark of the Covenant which holds manna, the tablets of the law, and the rod of Aaron; etc.

As Augustine said, the Old Testament conceals the New, and the New Testament reveals the Old.

I find that interesting. Growing up here in Central California I have never been to a Mass that did not have both forms offered. Not to change the subject but why I wonder would some parishes choose not to offer both?
I always assumed it had something to do with the size of the parish.

My Church is huge–at any given Mass there are hundreds of people there and the place is always packed (and we have 6 Masses including Saturday vigil and 5 Masses on Sunday). I don’t think there would be enough Precious Blood to go around and they don’t offer it.

My mom’s Church is much smaller (The building itself if about 1/5 the size of my church building). There are maybe 50 people at any given Mass (if even that many). They always offer the Precious Blood.

It says clearly in the New Testament that the Old Testament sacrifices offered to God for sins foreshadowed the Passion of Christ. See Hebrews 10.
Hebrews is in the New Testament. I was asking about the Old Testament.

We are normally offered the Body and Blood at Holy Communion but due to the flu “epidemic” the decision was made to refrain…for a short time perhaps…again not my decision.

But, rest assured, you are receiving the whole and complete Christ in either species.
