Why Do I Feel Embarrassed by Other Christians?

You might feel less “embarrassed” by other Christians if you were able to get to know some real-life Christians in your area that are supportive of the various TV evangelists and their organizations.

Yes, some of these real-life Christians are kind of over-the-top, too, and there are some who are extremely separatist–these people are not going to respond positively to a Catholic who wishes to befriend them.

But many are kind, loving people who are deeply in love with Jesus and truly desire to serve Him as Lord. You would enjoy knowing them, and they would help you to not be quite so embarrassed when you see their shows on TV.
Cat, I just want to say thank you. I feel like because you used to be a protestant you have more understanding of both sides. I love that your comments are never harsh, rude, or judgmental.

There are extremes everywhere. I have seen some very over the top non catholic Christians. I remember seeing one man around Easter time walking around dressed as Jesus holding a 7 foot cross. He even drove with it to Whole Foods (with it sticking out of his window) and put it in his cart and went shopping. He was yelling at everyone telling them they were going to hell if they didn’t repent.

On the other hand, I have also seen some very extreme Catholics. I think many have seen Filipinos doing reenactments of the crucifixion and actually crucifying each other. I remember my very Catholic Filipino mother in law was horrified at that site. I also remember going to a family member’s house who literally had a shrine of Mary…and by shrine I mean a shrine. Not just one statue or a picture. Everyday she would pray to Mary in the morning and at night. She said she would always go to Mary when she needed anyything because she loved Mary more than God. My uncle who is a Catholic Priest was so embarrassed and horrified.

So, like I said. There are extremes everywhere. Sometimes these extremes are doing more harm than good. You just have to remember that not ALL Christians are like that and most of us are normal people who love God with all of our hearts and just want to worship Him.

Whoa! Dr. Jack Van Impe,

is not to be confused with the likes of Dr. Gene Scott.

Jack Van Impe has given a singularly brilliant defense of the slander of the Church as the Whore of Babylon. Van Impe, who is Belgish, uh, of Belgian lineage, notes that it is the CLUB OF ROME that cobbled up the European Union; and the CLUB OF ROME started their foray into One World-ism with the uniting of the BeNeLux countries, Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxembourg; and it is therefore the CLUB OF ROME that fulfills the ugly prophecies of Babylon the Whore and the economic system of a revived Roman Empire in Daniel’s vision and John’s Apocalpyse. Me likey. GBU, Jack and Jan. Wait, that’s Paul Crouch’s big-haired wife…God bless you and yours, Jack Van Impe.
