Why do people deny the Holocaust?

The so–called lack of German documents ordering the Holocaust is part of the big lie denying the existence of this horrible era.
There are in existence Third Reich documents concerning the Holacaust from its inception at the Wansee conference, which was led by Heidrich, to the very end when the various camps were ordered destroyed by Nazi authorities (SS) in Berlin.
In addition, the fact that many of the camps were in areas captured by Soviet Union forces has nothing to do with whether or not extermination camps existed…two of the most notorious Belsen and Dachau were liberated and photo documented by American and British forces. In fact, there is a film showing Eisenhower and Patton inspecting the camps while bulldozers were pushing hundreds of corpses into burial pits.
If you visit Poland, a visit to Auschwitz will make a believer of you. If you visit nearby Birkenau, and stand in front of the boulder monument memorializing the camp, you will be standing in a field that originally was a swamp that was filled in with human ash from the crematories of Auschwitz and Birknau…you can pull up a clump of grass and actually see bone dust in the dirt!
And Yes, not only was human fat used to make soap in a couple of the caps, Ilse Koch, the wife of the Comandant of Auschwitz was convicted of having tattooed prisoners murdered so she could have lampshades and book covers made from their skin. She also had a shrunken head made.
She was convicted of war crimes by a joint American and Brittish court and spent the rest of her life in the Womens Prison in Aichach, Bavaria. These bizarre items still exist, but are not on public exhibition.
The Holocaust deniers fall into two categories: unregenarate American and European bigots for whom anti-semitism is almost a religion, and anti-zionist Mid-Easterners (Arabs) who want to deny any reason for the existance of the state of Isreal.

I don’t deny that people died in the camps. Towards the end of the war, typhus was rampant and plenty died of starvation. The Allies had destroyed many of the supply lines that led to these camps.

Auschwitz convinced me more than anything that the Holocaust was a sham. Be it the “reconstructed” smoke stacks, the “gas chambers” built by the Soviets, the swimming pools, the cantina, the soccer field, the theatre, etc. David Cole (a Jew) made a great documentary were he traveled to Auschwitz and exposed the hidden truth.

Another catagory for Holocaust deniers : Jews who realize that this fabrication of history was nothing more than an excuse to found the state of Israel. What do you make of the various rabbi’s who attend revisionist conventions?

What do you suppose happened to two-thirds of the nine million Jews who vanished throughout Europe between the years of 1933 and 1945; and why don’t you tell Elie Wiesel about David Cole’s documentary on Auschwitz and ask him whether it was accurate? By the way, not only were about six million Jews murdered in dozens of camps (many more than most people realize); but before the Final Solution, there was the first holocaust of homosexuals (and there are documents about this), then other groups such as gypsies, the disabled, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Catholics. Who knows how many more millions were actually killed? The common link between gays, gypsies, and Jews from the Nazi propaganda machine revolved around German children. Gays were reported to be child molesters; gypsies, child kidnappers; and Jews, child murderers who used the blood of German children for their Passover Seder. Ilse Koch was mentioned by another poster. She was reportedly even more of a sadist than her husband and was called the red witch of Buchenwald. She not only made soap and lampshades out of people’s skin and fat tissue; but, in addition, she loved to parade prisoners stark naked in the bitter cold. The Allies whom you mention as destroying the food supply lines that led to the camps were in fact criticized (FDR, in particular) for NOT destroying the railroad tracks that led to the extermination camps. Finally, who are these Rabbis you speak of who attend revisionist conventions; can we have some documentation about them?

Well the Nazis ran because they lost the war. This is not uncommon throughout history as conquering powers typically prosecute and sentence the leaders of the conquered nation. Many US confederates did the same thing following the surrender at Appomattox.

The conditions in the camps towards the end of the war were quite horrible, so I could understand why some might need therapy. The Allies had consistently bombed German railroads and bridges. In many cases, this shut off supply lines to the labor camps. Unable to get food and medical supplies, many of the Jews starved and experienced epidemics of various sicknesses.

Out of curiosity, who are these American soldiers and what camps did they liberate? I ask because I know of several soldiers who have made up tales of camp liberation all for the sake of profit (via book selling and public speaking).

my father was an american soldier who was in the army and helped liberate a concentration camp. he spoke of what he saw once and said he never wanted to speak of it again because it obviously upset him to remember what he saw. not once did he ever consider making a profit. he numbed his pain i feel with alcohol the rest of his life. he was in his mid-20’s when he fought in the war so i am sure he was troubled by many horrors that he witnessed during the war. never once have i doubted what he told me.

Fair enough, but what does this have to do with the denial of the Holocaust? Do they sincerely believe that the Holocaust did not occur or was not of the dimensions that are reported, or are they using this propaganda as a means to achieve their own goals?

I think they were of the ‘Don’t use the Shoah to justify Israel’ rather than ‘There was no Shoah’ variety of anti-Zionist.
