Why do people ask Mary to Pray for them? Moral Theology
Thank you so much for helping me to comprehend and understand

I am glad for this answer.
why do people feel like Mary is a mother to them as well to God

so how is she our mother (just to finally Clarify the relationship to Mary and the rest of us followers)?

We are adopted sons and daughters of God through Jesus. Our Blessed lady is the mother of Jesus and therefore our mother. Read St John’s Gospel chapter 19 versus 26&27.

John 19:26-27

26 When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, " Woman, behold, your son!" †
27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. *

In addition to the passage from John 19, there is also the passage in Revelation 12, especially verse 17: “Then the dragon became angry with the woman and went off to wage war against the rest of her offspring, those who keep God’s commandments and bear witness to Jesus.”

I heard a interesting thing. At the foot of the cross -
Jesus tells Mary - that she’s now John’s mother ( behold your son )
and THEN -
Jesus says to his disciple - that Mary is his mother -
and John took Mary into his home -
Mary should be in everyone’s home !

Since Mary is Mother of Jesus, Who is the Head of the Church it would follow that Mystical Body of Christ would have her as a mother because what type of Mother gives birth to a head without members and vice versa. Saint Louis de Monfort says something like that.

Do you feel comfortable to ask other people to pray for you?
Why?

When I was reading the Glories of Mary some of the quotes of the Church Doctors where musing how it says disciple instead of John since it could be applied to all disciples of Christ. I don’t think this works in certain translations though.

After that, he says to the disciple: Behold your mother. And from that hour, the disciple took her to his own. John 19:27
