Why do Protestants desire to marry Catholics?

I am learning that the Catholic Church has a much more different view of Mary as compared to the Protestant and Anglican Churches than I had thought. Learn something new every day

My question to you non-Catholics is why if you disagree so much with the teachins of the RCC do you marry a Catholic?
My DH (Methodist)married me a Catholic and he said in high school he was always drawn to the Catholics but I said why?
He said he didn’t know. Any ideas? Dessert

This reminds me of an episode of The Simpsons where they go back in history to show how it was that Springfield and Shelbyville (the rival town next to Springfield) came to be seperate:

Shelbyville Manhattan: *“yes, and marry our cousins.” *

Jebediah:* “What are you talking about Shelbyville? Why would we want to marry our cousins?” *

Shelbyville Manhattan: *"Cause they’re so darned attractive. " *

So to answer your question, because we are so darned attractive?

Well my wife had it in for me when we first meet, so I would have to say it was my intoxicating presence . LOL seriously I have no idea. Perhaps a similar explanation could be found in certain preferences like Blondes, Brunettes, or Red heads. Something about Catholic women was intoxicating for the hubby. I’m guessing it was the idea of it. Perhaps he felt like a conquerer, or the Protestant girls were more like sisters to him and he wanted a Catholic who would not seem this way.

I have no idea. I have never heard that before nor has it been a factor. Cute is cute. Actually, I only ever heard people voice the opposite (ie Catholics are a cults and yada…yada…). I dated a girl in college who was Catholic. I went to mass with her and enjoyed it (electric guitars and all it was much different than my traditional Anglican Mass) but then I enrolled through a Catholic College on my secular university campus and went to Mass there as well. Beautiful acappella singing in the morning.

So, who knows…some guys love petite girls, some love large women, some love blonds, redheads and your husband loves Catholic girls. He does know even if it is sublimated.

Hmmmmmm…come to think of it I married a Catholic girl too. I better contact Chick publications as this may be part of some Jesuit/Papal conspiracy.

In a way my dh seems the kind that has the superman syndron, thinking he was saving me from a cult but also I think he wanted to know more about how “we” think. I also wanted to know what his ideas were so we were a truly mixed couple. lol But he asked and I said yes, that started the game going. I think he was turned down by others I felt sorry for him and he said I don’t suppose you would want to marry me I’m not so cute and he had a nice build as most young men do but he was not athletic more like the clark kent type, and he had and still does good discernment except when it comes to the church. Now I’m thinking he doesn’t really understand the role of priests, so if I get over my handicaps, we are working on that. His mother was also CC and I thought all along it was my good looks. So is it curiosity? Maybe my stubborness. to get what I wanted. I am learning to keep my confidence in the Lord more than in myself. Dessert

Why do Catholics marry Protestants ?

This question came up before and I have been thinking about it alot, I first wanted to answer because a lot of CC men I dated were thinking of the priest hood, we used to call it that, so there were a more than likely impossible prospect, but also a lot of CC guys were some of the kind that drank too much. But I learned later that was not the big problem. I think I wanted to conquer.
