Why do protestants evangelize?

quote: CSN

Each Christian, who evangelizes, wishes to bring the good news to others - especially to those who are seen to have a faulty understanding of salvation, justification, and the place of ‘works,’ in one’s salvation. Each, who does this work, holds that he/she has the full truth - or they would not be evangelizing, to begin with.

What may be said - without contradiction - is that news of the one God was brought to billions of people, over 2 millenia - as were the commands that God gave, at Sinai…all this, because
Christianity is preached - in all it’s manifold expressions.

Yeah…but can you imagine the shock Fundamentalists would suffer if a CATHOLIC tried to evangelize to them? I’d pay decent cash to watch it.

If the belief is that you are destined to be saved, why do they waste time and harrass others with their evangelization?

Anyone know?
What’s even stranger is that they tend to evangelise to Catholics. Why aren’t they evangelising to people who don’t believe in Christ.
Because they believe that anyone who doesn’t believe their way of thinking (or goes to their church) isn’t a true Christian. It not that they’re trying to harrass, they think they’re doing something good.

Besides evangelizing to Catholics, they do bring Christ to unbelievers; and this is good.

Frankly, my brother (a non-Catholic) brought me a Catholic Bible with Pope John Paul II at the front page. After few years of him convincing me studying the Bible, I finally started to use it. I am very thankful to him. He is now in Cambodia trying to bring Christ to unbelievers:

and here are my nieces who also left US to come with him and live there. It isn’t easy to leave your comfort zone and move to a third world country. You can only do that with love, hope, and faith.

I live in the Philippines which is an 85% Catholic country yet you wouldn’t believe the number of Protestant groups coming here trying to get people away from the Catholic faith.

Matthew 28:18-20

Then Jesus approached and said to them, “All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me.
Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,
teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, until the end of the age.”

We are already disciples and baptised in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Don’t these Bible thumpers actually read what they are supposed to be doing.

We want convert non-Catholics to Catholics, then they have their same reason to do the opposite way.

Picture this scenario: A Catholic, with Catechism in hand, approaches a hardcore Fundamentalist preacher in the streets downtown. He flags him over, and says, “Excuse me, brother. I’d like to share with you my testament concerning the infallibility of the Pope in Rome. Now, let me direct your attention to the Catechism of the Catholic Church.” Imagine the Fundamentalist’s immediate reaction. 😃

They are simply following the biblical dictate to go out to all nations and convert them in the name of the Father, Son, & Holy Spirit.

The question relates to the fact that (some) Protestants believe they are destined to be saved, and in this context I am wondering why they so eagerly try and spread the word – in that mindset, it shouldn’t make a difference.

Also, I’m not sure that Protestant evangelization is entirely good, as it brings many people to an incomplete understanding of what we as Catholics believe – know – is the full truth.
***You are right and in a pray group I used to go to with friends in the Christian fellowship on entering the group late I was asked to chose a reading I chose Gal 5:22; James 3: 1- 5 finishing with 1 Corinth 13.
Gal told what the fruit is James tells when it is not the true spirit and Corinth tells how we know by the outcome.
After I shared James the leader stood down in fear that there were repercussions through her leading by her desires.

Many Protestants focus their entire efforts to “defeating” the Catholic church.
**Jesus tells us that we are to be aware of the wolf coming dressed as the lamb.Jesus never put down the people He built up the church, so these are not sheep but wolves in disguise. **

Is this then a good thing that they bring their version of Christ to others? I don’t know. Not always, it seems…
Jesus tells us that this will always happen. But as with the lying prophet in the old testament God allows us to be tested, but not with more than we can take and He goes before us to prepare the way and lastly He is always there should we wish to speak to Him.

Godbless
