There’s nothing anywhere that I’m aware of that says mass lasts only one hour.

Actually, many Sunday Masses are even shorter than that.

And by what authority does anyone “require” anything? Is it a protestant requirement to go to church at all? Where is that in the Bible?

Perhaps this verse. From the NASB:

Heb 10:25 not forsaking our own assembling together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another; and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

I think you’re mistaken. Once weekly mass is an obligation. There’s nothing anywhere that I’m aware of that says mass lasts only one hour. The other obligation is to be Christ for others everywhere one is… for the 168 or so hours per week.

I think you’ve misunderstood what I said. One hour is probably mass with a very short homily. Sunday mass at my parish generally lasts 75 minutes.

As for protestants, I don’t care what their requirements are and I did not speak to that. I said that Catholics could afford to spend the required, however long, mass once a week.

Sunday night service, Wednesday night service, Thursday visitation and Saturday morning visitation are traditions. Sort of like the way Mass evolved for Catholics in the early centuries of the Church.

…have regular Church services on Wednesday and/or Thursday instead of on Sunday or Saturday? There’s nothing about holding Wednesday as sacred in their Bible, and it doesn’t make much sense to hold Thursday holy without acknowledging the Eucharist. So… why?

As other people have explained, the Wednesday night service is a suppliment to Sunday worship, not a replacement.

From a practical standpoint, Sundays tend to be much more formal and oriented toward corporate worship and preaching, while Wednesdays are very informal and tend to be oriented more to prayer and Bible study.

Personally, I don’t care when a church meets, as long as what they do when they do meet is Biblical.
