Isn’t she a saint? Shouldn’t we say Saint Virgin Mary?

My simple take is Luke 1:48 says “All generations shall call me blessed”. So we call her blessed - it is both a command and a prophecy.

Luke 1:42 - 48… Especially Luke 1:48

I also refer to her as Saint Mary quite often… One does not exclude the other

God Bless

Until recently all canonized saints were called Blessed.

Also the Latin is Beata Maria Virgo (B.M.V.)

She is blessed
She is a virgin
Her name is Mary:D

And yes, she’s a saint, and you can refer to her as st Mary if you want, but there are a lot of Mary’s so it’s easy to get them confused.

Also, she isn’t just a saint, there is something different about her, she is the ark of the ew covenent, the queen of saints.
All other saints overcame their sin, and left their sinful lives behind, while the blessed mother of God never sinned.

Mary is igher than all the saints; the reason people call her Blessed Virgin has more to do with people being used to claling Her that. However, as I said, Mary is higher thanall the saints and even though She does have the title of Siant, we call Her Blessed Virgin not because we thnk She is les than the others but because She is higher than them: we give Her this other title to diffirentate Her from the title of Saint. I mean, Sh eis Queen of Siants, isn’t She?

Also, it is because we love to call Her the Blessed Virgin or the Blessed Mother. A child doesn’t call his mum ‘Mrs’ or ‘Mother’ but he calls her ‘mama’ so with Mary, instead of calling Her saint Mary, we call Her (sweet!) Blessed Virgin Mary.

I think that Disinherited is right: we call Our Lady the Blessed Virgin Mary partly from custom, and partly to give her special honor. “Saint Mary” is correct, but that title does not differentiate her from all the other saints.

Another saint who sounds like he got a demotion but really didn’t is Saint Bede, more commonly known for the last thousand years as (the) Venerable Bede. He doesn’t belong with the venerables any more than our Lady belongs with the blesseds. The adjectives attached to their names should be read literally, as terms of esteem and affection, not as titles from the path to canonization.

Because God did.

And the angel being come in, said unto her: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women. Luke 1:28

She is not just a Saint, she is more than that.
