I recently helped out at a Christmas craft fair at my church and one of the kids asked a question that I never really thought of. We were working on the craft and he asked me “Why do we get presents when it is Jesus’ birthday?” I didn’t really have an answer and just said “That’s a good question.” I was just curious and thought I would ask since I can’t really think of a logical answer. I hope you have a Merry Christmas by the way!

The exchange of presents on Christmas is primarily to honor the story of the Magi giving gifts to the Christ child (Matt. 2:9-11). But we could also say that the presents we receive symbolize and celebrate the fact that on Christmas God gave us his Son, the greatest gift ever given to man.
