Is there a good reason of why we go to confession? Is it in the Bible or in the Cathecism?

Confession to Priest in Bible? Sacred Scripture
Where in the Bible does it say we should confess to a Priest and only a Priest and that is the only way to confess sins. I personally believe in this but my friend said she was taught at Catholic school that you can confess to God one on one in prayer or to a Priest. I asked a Brother of the church today and he said you must confess to a Priest but he wasnt clear on where it says that in the Bible. I must admit in my Personal Bible in Matthew I think it is its says that we should confess our sin…

Catechism of the Catholic Church
1470 In this sacrament, the sinner, placing himself before the merciful judgment of God, anticipates in a certain way the judgment to which he will be subjected at the end of his earthly life. For it is now, in this life, that we are offered the choice between life and death, and it is only by the road of conversion that we can enter the Kingdom, from which one is excluded by grave sin.79 In converting to Christ through penance and faith, the sinner passes from death to life and "does not come into judgment."80

79 Cf. 1 Cor 5:11; Gal 5:19-21; Rev 22:15.
80 Jn 5:24.

In the Catholic Church, “Going to confession” is more properly called the “Sacrament of Reconciliation” or sometimes the “Sacrament of Penance” . Like all Sacraments, it is discussed in the Catechism, which contains in the footnotes references to Scripture.

Vico has quoted part of the Catechism to you, but I’d strongly suggest you read the whole section on this Sacrament. As I said, there’s plenty of Biblical references in the footnotes. Here it is.

Yes, there is a scriptural basis for the Sacrament of Confession but it has existed in the Church before the New Testament was written. If one was to read Leviticus they would see that a ritual for the forgiveness of sins existed under the Old Law as well. Only, an animal was brought for sacrifice depending on the nature of the sin. As Christ has sacrificed Himself for our sins, only our sins are required to be brought to the confessional for absolution.

First, remember the bible comes from tradition. Tradition does not come from the bible.

That said, to me the Sacrement of reconciliation is like Jesus washing the feet of his disciples. Peter says, “…not just my feet, but all of me.”

Jesus replies, “You are already clean, washing all of you is not necessary, only your feet, from walking through this world.”

I’m paraphrasing.

It’s not the teaching of the Church that “washing feet” prefigures confession, but that’s the way I see it.
