Why do you love Vatican II?

I’m really blessed to have reverent and solemn liturgical services at a local shrine where I serve. Accompaniment limited to organ or strings, common parts in Latin, clear, power homilies. Never seen a Tridentine Mass yet.

On the other hand, I have seen some really awful abuses in other churches. Oh well. Hopefully one day…

But why do I love the post-Vatican II Masses? Because it is the Sacrifice of Calvary made present to me: I stand at the place of sacrifice and see my Lord offer himself for me. And it is done in the way our holy mother the Church says it will be done, so I obey. So regardless of the little disasters I encounter, this reality is what really matters. It’s good enough for me.

BTW, I really hate that term “Novus Ordo”. It’s properly “The Roman Missal” or the Mass (or current rite of the Mass, for distinction). “Novus Ordo” my foot. 😛

Thank you Tradcat89 for starting this thread.

If you were to put it in a poll (?) I would bet that understanding the language is the most compelling reason why the current venacular Mass is prefered.
If I were to go on an extended vistit to a foriegn country (non-English speaking, how wonderful it would be to find a Mass in English. I currently attend a very reverent and beautiful Mass, so many of the abuses are not an issue for me.

Tradcat89:::Even though I do love the english Mass, at times I do think about the old tridentine High Mass at Easter and Christmas. We would lite every candle in the church, and the choir would sing most of the prayer responses to the priest. It was really special in my growing up, I do miss them. The closest mass we have that compares to it is the Easter vigil mass. They are both really special to me. God bless.
