Murder, Theft, Rape, etc. Why is premarital sex considered a grave sin? Is there such thing as an overreaction to sin? I understand NEVER SIN. Thoughts are sins. There is never an excuse for sins. Thinking like this can become exhausting. I am not saying you should not correct a person in minor transgressions or that you should not feel guilty. At least for me, thinking that way, just encourages me to do anyway. If thinking about revenge is just as bad as getting revenge, I might as well get my full satisfaction and get revenge. I am not saying we should ignore sin or venial sins, but I personally think it can feel a little overwhelming. My father used to get angry when I said “Damn.” I understand "damn is a bad word. But it is not the worse bad word said in history. I am happy I am on my own now. I try not to use foul language. If damn wore to come out, It is not like I said “s***” or “f***” It is still wrong, it could be worse though.

You are right, some sins are much worse than others. Thoughts are never as bad as doing. Thinking about revenge never comes back to bite as much as the real thing. Don’t concern yourself about swearing, except for taking the name of God in vain, as it is normally a failure of vocabulary or a verbal catharsis of frustration. I am sure there are far worse failures. Go back and hug your Dad for taking the time to love you in his annoying corrections. So many don’t care enough.

God is Merciful.

He will forgive everything that you seek forgiveness of.

Some people are too proud to ask for forgiveness from God.

The thing about thinking of committing a sin is that it is sinful in itself. If the thought flits across your mind, that’s one thing. If you grab it and invite it in to stay and entertsin the thought, then it’s sinful.

If you then go out and commit the the sin, that is *another *sin. What Christ was trying to say is that thinking about it is *on its own *as if you committed the sin, not that since you’ve thought about it, you might as well do it.

God forgives because he loves us with a perfect love.
“Give thanks to the Lord for he is good.
His mercy endures for ever.”

Murder, Theft, Rape, etc.
God forgives because He is all loving and all forgiving and, when we repent, He said that he would forgive us. A lot of people though, don’t understand what repentance is. It is not just feeling sad. Repentance, in Greek is Metanoia, to change in one’s way of life.

I guess it is good that my father cares and loves me a lot. It can feel smothering. Catholics are big on correction. Some days I think people NEED TO CHILL OUT. I understand again, no excuse for sin. Always be honest. I come from a very strict household so I feel very differently about correction and being brutally honest than most people. I think IT CAN BE TOO MUCH.

God forgives mortal sins when the penitent is sorry for any mortal or venial sins and goes to confession and confesses especially all his mortal sins. Then he says the Act of Contrition and the priest gives him absolution. Then he must do the penance that Father gave him in confession.

You can always remind him who is choosing his nursing home.😃

When Jesus spent his time on Earth, he would have lived by the greatest commandments; this would have been the greatest way he could respond to each and every situation in his life.
But how did Jesus love all his neighbours as he loved himself, Judas who betrayed him, the soldiers who nailed him to the cross? Jesus was an innocent man, with the power and authority to ask God for justice. But it seems that nothing, and no one should stand in the way of Jesus loving all his neighbours as he loved himself, and we know that he prayed on the cross, ‘forgive them Father’

And just a thought, whatever sin I commit here on Earth, God can put right, if I kill someone, God can raise that person to everlasting life.

If we are to be forgiven, should we also forgive those who hurt us?
