Why does God want praise?

It may seem like a silly question but I don’t really understand why God wants praise.
I guess I look at it wrongly through ‘human eyes’.Ie:that wanting praise is from ego etc.
I understand intellectually that God is God so it’s different for him,but I still don’t quite understand.

It is really for our sake not God’s. To recognize that we are infinitely inferior and that by his grace we can reach union with God.
 
You think God wants praise because we owe it to him?
I dont think that answers the OP’s question.
 
Our praise adds nothing to God. But it is natural and so good for us to do so.
 
Because it takes the focus off of us onto Him. We need Him and He knows it. God does not need our praise for anything. It benefits us. I can’t be my own god if Christ is my God. But if Christ was not my God, I would most likely be my own god. But I would not be able to save myself.

God needs nothing from us at all. Participation in His mission to evangelize the world is a privilege that He allows us to share in. God is fully capable of doing His mission on His own and He is content without human praise as well. He asked us to do these things for our benefit, not His.

Is praise what God wants or simply what we do in response to him?

I dont believe God wants praise. I believe he wants us to understand who we are in relation to him. We can do nothing apart from him. So if I accomplish something worth while, instead of puffing up my ego, I thank God for the grace to accomplish that worth while task.

Even if I make a mistake I thank God for showing me that mistake which will help me, by the grace of God, to do that task better next time.
 
If the rocks could actually love God as we’re capable of doing, they’d cry out in praise and adulation. Our “problem” is only that we don’t know God so well. Our problem is that we haven’t yet tasted fully of His goodness; we don’t yet love Him with our whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. When we do we will “worship in spirit and in truth”, spontaneously. Because God is that good. He’s the very source of sheer, unbridled happiness for man.

And this is simply the right and just order of things for us; this is where creation is in harmony with itself and its Creator. This is the best thing for humankind because in this we are totally oriented towards the absolute Good and away from evil, away from anything less.

As the fourth Common Preface says , " For, although you have no need of our praise, yet our thanksgiving is itself gift, since our praises add nothing to your greatness , but profit us for salvation . "
 
I’m not sure if there’s a real difference. Hearts that genuinely love God want Him exalted, glorified, adored, praised, worshipped. Etc
