I started wondering about this after reading a post on Roe V Wade. I immediately thought about couple years ago in my area, certain groups fought and fought to get gambling legalized here, it failed a few times, but eventually it passed and now they have casinos all over the state. It seems those groups against it, just gave up once it passed…?? But everytime it was failed by the voters, those for it, did not give up, they just fought harder until it did get passed…I keep wondering why people against things like this just give up once they are passed, and do not fight on to change it, get it on the ballot again?

I dont think they realize if they get enough votes to get the gambling issue back on the ballot, and managed to get just a handful more people to vote against it in the next election, all the casinos would have to close, in the past, every time it was on the ballot it was very very close, so it seems it should not be that hard to get it changed.

Once a law is passed, it is more difficult to remove it than it was to put it in place to begin with.

We should never give up, but we should realize the obstacle that lay before us.

Actually it’s now Planned Parenthood v Casey that is dictating the legal constraints around abortion, you should read up on it.

States have been persistent which is why many have added constraints that are hoped to reduce the frequency. These constraints push the boundaries of PP v Casey.:
  • require clinics to meet same standards as urgent care centers
  • restrict late term abortions
  • add waiting period, sonogram, etc.
