What drove him to rebel? Why would God even create him with pride? Did angels even have knowledge of good and evil? I thought only God and humans had free will, anyway.
The Incarnation; Satan, pure spirit of intellect and will, God’s greatest creation at that time, through pride of having to adore God made man, and having to revere a Woman as a greater creation, together with envy of God descending to redeem man and restoring man to grace, drove him and his followers to freely choose worship of themselves.
God created Satan and his fellow demons in order to bring goodness out of the evil they cause. St Augustine said “God judged it better to bring good out of evil than to suffer no evil to exist.”
The only reason we have a concept of what is good is because there is also a thing called evil. Would we have a word for cold if there was no such thing as hot? Would we have a concept of darkness if there was no such thing as light?
