Why does the Catholic Church forbid unlawful porn?

Why does the catholic church forbid sexualization of things? Its obviously wrong but i wanna know why

My understanding as a non-believer is that the Church believes it is wrong to deliberately seek sexual pleasure outside marriage. It does not reject sexuality or its depiction as such but only when it is likely to lead to people enjoying sexual pleasure outside marriage and there is no countervailing reason for the depiction. So it may be necessary for enforcement officers to look at videos for law enforcement reasons. This would be ok, for that reason. Some people may get sexual enjoyment from the depiction of nudity but the Church seems to have decided that glorifying God through great art is a countervailing good, so uses nudity in Church art. I do not accept any of this personally but it is a perfectly coherent set of ideas if you accept its premises.
 
Because you are objectifying and lusting over someone you are not married to and it leads to other sins such as masturbation

Yes, and as people of God we do not indulge in such activities but of things that bring holiness and nearer to God. We can say that the culture of dwelling in occasion of sin is not from God but of the Evil One.
 
I am guessing that you meant “unlawful porn.” Pornography is a degradation of human dignity and sexuality.

From the Catechism:
Blockquote 2354 Pornography consists in removing real or simulated sexual acts from the intimacy of the partners, in order to display them deliberately to third parties. It offends against chastity because it perverts the conjugal act, the intimate giving of spouses to each other. It does grave injury to the dignity of its participants (actors, vendors, the public), since each one becomes an object of base pleasure and illicit profit for others. It immerses all who are involved in the illusion of a fantasy world. It is a grave offense. Civil authorities should prevent the production and distribution of pornographic materials.

Two questions for you, if you feel like answering:
  1. Why do you think the Church “believes it is wrong to deliberately seek sexual pleasure outside marriage”?
  2. What “premises” do you not accept, thereby disallowing you from an otherwise “perfectly coherent set of ideas”?

One might also look at it from a little different perspective. God shares with man his incredible attribute of Creator. In the “marital embrace” as the church calls it, two small “seeds”, invisible to the naked eye, almost “nothing” unite to create a new creation for God to love for all eternity. (bringing into existence something from nothing is the definition of creation as it pertains to The Creator) Human sexuality is so sacred in God’s eyes, that anything that corrupts or pollutes that “embrace” that is reserved for the sacred union that is matrimony, falls short and is considered sinful. I don’t think it so much a question as “falling down” as it is “failing to live up” to the great gift God has given man.

In the instant of union of sperm with egg, God infuses into the newly fertilized egg a newly created, completely unique and individual human soul that, in union with the newly formed human body, make a unique and living human person.

This cooperative work, of God with husband and wife, is as you point out is profoundly sacred and noble, an especially sacred manifestation of the divine image and likeness which define human nature.

To abuse this gift, anyone ought to be able to see, is an affront to God Himself for no better reason than a moment of self-centered pleasure - as if man were himself worthy of such a theft from the holiness of God.

What do you mean by “things”?

When I first read the question I thought of inanimate objects, like acorn squash and paint brushes.
 
Some videos available online involve prostitutes and others in the trade of human trafficking. Sometimes the people in the videos are not willing and are actually getting raped, from what I’ve heard.

There is nothing loving about it.
 
Two or more people engaged in sex acts for money is prostitution. Those who do it for any other reason are engaging in fornication, or, in some cases, a rape may be occurring.

Human dignity begins with human decency. Respect for others and for oneself should go together.

The church forbids pornography because it usually promotes and depicts objectively sinful acts (sexual relations between non-married persons). The persons depicted are being exploited, and the persons viewing are led into temptation.

Just to clarify, it is not ok to objectify or lust after anyone, including your spouse.

People are not things. Our bodies (and other people’s bodies) are not just matter we can do whatever we want with. That’s why how we have sex matters (same with how we eat and drink, how we sleep, how we work and rest, etc…) We need to show respect to ourselves and each other, because we are made in the image of God.
 
Sex is an industry. If people buy porn, go to free porn websites, and so on, the demand will be noted and girls will be recruited. There is so much exploitation in the porn industry, and anyone who thinks that the women they’re gawking over are all willing participants who are just trying to make a living, is living in a world of denial and lies.

Minors are absolutely groomed and recruited. And as I heard one man say, if you look at “teenage girls” then the porn industry will recruit teenage girls. If you look at “Asian girls” or “co-ed girls” then the porn industry will go after them.

So why does the Church forbid it? Because of all of the above, as well as the personal sin of lust. Seriously, porn is just wrong on so many levels.
