Good day!

A high school classmate of mine who is a member of a sect called Members of the Church of Christ always oppose Catholic doctrine, traditions etc… Recently, she posted a criticism, on her Facebook status, against Catholics about kneeling before the pope, and priests kneeling before the bishop during ordination. This group often criticize Catholics and other Christian “sects” and denominations for not knowing the teachings contained in the Bible. Actually I don’t believe them because they hold on to sola scriptura and they have reduced the Eucharist to a mere symbolism but I have read before in Acts 10:25-26 that when Peter arrived at Cornelius’ house, he told Cornelius not to kneel before him since he is a man himself. Why then does the pope -as Peter’s successor- allow lay people and other priests kneel before him? I even saw a picture of one of our senators kneel before Pope John Paul II. I have been wondering about this for sometime now and I hope I can get my question answered this time.

Thank you very much and God bless!
