Why don"t people see our body in a spiritual sence

Why is it that people see our body in a fleshly sence and not in a spiritual sence as God created us to be?

God made us to HIS likeness, and we are supposed to see the spirit of God in each other. If we do then even the act of husband loving his wife will be seen in the spiritual sence. If we were to see the act of love making (for the want of words) in the sence of the Godly act of union and full unity with husband and wife, then we would relate to each other with a different light.

Surely this is the way God wishes us to see each, as an act of union with any person we relate to on earth. If we did would there be no judgment of each other would we wish the best for each other, would we help each other out more readily?
Is God not the manufacturer of God creating His own likeness in the human sence (us).
Therefore are not every act we do, create or relate to supposed to relate to God’s wishes for us to live in true union of God. Led by the Holy Spirit?

I think it s symptom of our times. Our culture deemphasizes the spiritual and overemphasises the material. It is the main reason there has been a decline in prayer over the recent decades. Even so, there are still many people who intuitively have a greater spiritual connection.

Our modern society has not been able to drive our the spiritual altogether. One result is the widespread popularity of movies, books and TV shows with a spiritual dimension. This seems to be the result of a spiritual deficit in people’s lives.

I think it’s a western thing.

We just have this attitude that the body and soul/spirit are separate things that just happen to share the same space.

It’s sad, really. I think feeling that there is a separation between the physical and the spiritual leads to a separation from God.

You are so right all of you. This dualism of sopirit iand matter permeates Catholic life. The Scriptures-words of men but Word of God, The Church- human and divine, Creation-seen and unseen.

Answer to why- I would begin with the Enlightenment. The faulty presupposition that if it’s not provable through science that it does not exist.

I don’t remember which saint said it, but in explaining the Beatitudes he/she said the following.

“Blessed is pure of heart, for they shall see God” - this is explained as those having a pure heart will see God in everyone he/she encountered. It was also suggested that we pray to the Holy Spirit for the gift of a Pure Heart.

When we truly love Jesus, we will be able to love everyone including your enemy. For my daily prayer, I am praying to love Jesus more each day by praying to be able to see His Love. Through recognizing His Love in all your aspect of life, one can begin to return his love to Jesus. Thus, you will find it is easier to love your neighbor.

I don’t think any person is my enemy. I believe every single person is made in the image and likeness of God whether they realise that or not, whether they love God or not and whether they love me or not.

All I know is that God loves all other people as much as me, God treasures them so much He died for them so who am I then not to love them? What excuse can I offer for not loving them? Who am I to judge them? Who am I to deny them the Jesus in me and not to love the Jesus in them?

Everything that is created is lent dignity by the living and moving in God though all it is is dust without the Holy Spirit.

This world’s madness is built on the self otherwise no man could attack another, could sin against another if they had eyes to see Jesus in all men Baptised or not. It is only when the eyes rest upon the self that men are tempted to sin against each other and God and no longer see Jesus.

The most clearly that Jesus can be seen in another is when they are merciful and forgive which we all should be ready to do very quickly because we are all sinners and we all lose sight of the dignity of humanity in Jesus.

I agree with you here.
I remember asking Jesus how to love the way He does.
This is what He told me.
Take Mary His mother as mine and take Jesus as my father and what would you have …Spirtual parents, and …therefor my brothers and sisters would be the saints in heaven, and there fore my love for all people on earth if I know them or not will be equal without blemish. Because I would start thinking spiritual and I would see them all as equal. Hence I would love them know them or not, because I wuld see God in them.
