Why don't any of the staff apologists use the forum?

I’d have no way of knowing, but my guess is it is a combination of being busy coupled with the nature of online forums in general. They might feel that arguing with armchair theologians isn’t very productive.

I guess that makes sense, but I think it would be enlightening just to see even a single reply from them to a question in a thread even if they wouldn’t entertain a debate here.

It’s possible they do we just don’t know it. They could anonymously under a generic member handle. However I have no idea if this is the case. Maybe they did in the past but I haven’t been here long so have no knowledge of it either way. Maybe someone who has been here a long time knows.

There was an Ask an Apologist subforum some years ago. The forum was also not on Discourse then and had several paid mods that were more active than the current mods. My guess is that having apologists here, like having the paid mods here, cost money, and CA wants to limit how much it spends on this forum.

There is also the issue of stubborn posters just wanting to argue anyway (see how badly some treat the priests who post), the fact that most apologetics questions are the same ones over and over, and also frankly a lot of the threads that get posted here nowadays are not apologetics and are more along the lines of very basic questions, teenagers asking “is this a sin”, people having issues with prayers to Mary or saints, and people with agony aunt-type marital or personal situations. I can’t really see a CA apologist wanting to spend time on this version of the forum.

That makes sense. As for being paid though, I would think they’d occasionally come on casually just like we do, and just like I see them do on Facebook and Twitter. Maybe they do come on anonymously like Zach said though.
