Why don't I get any joy out of St Therese?

This saint, that saint, some prayers answered, some not but never St Therese? Why is that? Why this one saint? It’s strange.

Why not give it a try yourself and tell us why…

Hope to get an answered prayer from you after 5 days.

PS. October 1st is her feast day.

GOD bless! 😇😇😇

She is my confirmation saint. I have prayed many a novena and never gotten a rose. 😦

I was blessed to have received a rose, it was unexpected, yet that is St. Therese. My twin brother was killed by someone DUI. He died instantly. I was praying that he had that one moment to commit his soul to God. I kept saying St Therese please help him and guide him to the Father. I stopped at a gas station on the way to my sister’s, this young boy came up to me and handed me a Rose. I asked him why. He replied I saw you crying and asked my mom if she would give. you one of her roses.
I will also say novena for you, please try and go to Mass on October 1st. Many graces will fall from heaven . St. Therese made a promise and she will keep it. God bless and watch over you.

Maybe you just don’t relate to her.
We’re never required to “feel” a certain way in our faith.

I don’t have mysterious strangers stopping by and giving me a physical rose on the street corner, but I run into roses all the time.

Are you being too specific about the sort of rose you want as a sign?

As an example—

I go to an icon class a few times a year, and after the first or second time, I noticed that I always got a rainbow when I was about to start a new icon. I started to look out for them. Seven, eight, nine times… I always got a rainbow. Ten, eleven, twelve…

But the funny part was, sometimes the rainbow wasn’t always a weather-rainbow. Sometimes it’s a rainbow cloud. Sometimes the rainbow was a reflection of light through a prism on the ceiling. The last time, the rainbow was the reflection of a highway sign onto the film of someone’s windshield. Whenever I see a “creative” rainbow, I laugh and joke to myself that the rainbow department is suffering budget cuts. And then I get on to doing what I’m supposed to do.

So, perhaps if you open up your definition of “receiving a rose”, it might help you.

Good luck!

I think it’s a bit of a stretch to think that everyone who asks for her prayers gets a Rose.

First, Saints do not answer prayers. God answers prayers.

Prayer, prayers to St Therese as well as all other prayers, are not a sort of magic where wishes are granted.

God answers every prayer, sometimes His answer is “No”.

I think she’s frequently misrepresented. Have you read her autobiography? That may give you a clearer idea of the real St. Therese. Also, you needn’t pray to her if you prefer. There are prayers I have a hard time saying too. I understand.

The answer may also be to learn to accept spiritual dryness as St. Therese did or to accept that sometimes you have to wait, as she also did. She wrote about it in her autobiography. Knowing about the life of a saint can help us to know what a saint may have to teach us.

After all, as Steven Covey likes to put it, the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
The main thing is to become another saint.

Are you asking why your prayers to her do not get answered?

Have you thought about watching a St Therese movie?

St Therese is also my patron Saint.

I got my best understanding of her life and spirituality from the book The Hidden Face by Ida Gorres. It’s a magnificent understanding of the inner workings of this young woman who became a Saint and Doctor of the Church.

Have you read her writings? Also the testimonies from her canonization, and the writings about her by her sister Celine and Marie of the Trinity?

Maybe you’re being called (if that’s the right word) to learn more about her so you can connect more authentically? From what I’ve read there are plenty of others who’ve not felt “a connection” initially, only to be drawn more deeply into a connection with the Saint .
