Might you be thinking of “Saving Mr. Banks,” the movie about the woman who wrote ‘Mary Poppins’? When she checks into her hotel after arriving in LA, the Gurdjieff book is one of the first things she takes out of her luggage.I love Bill Murray! And Groundhog Day is one of my favorite films. People may be interested to know that Bill Murray has a Gurdjieffian background, and that Ouspensky wrote and lectured extensively and in great detail on the theory of eternal return. Which is perhaps the subject of Groundhog Day. I have no idea whether or not Mr. Murray is still involved in Fourth Way stuff, but once Work ideas get in you they tend to not leave. And I have no idea about his current spiritual outlook, but I would suspect that whatever it is, it’s likely strongly informed by these ideas. Plus, it’s plain as day that a number of his films have very deep and subtle Fourth Way references, most definitely including Groundhog Day. And his demeanor, too, is sometimes very pronouncedly and very clearly a product of these ideas and practices; he’s got that look, and there’s no mistaking it. So in addition to being hugely lovable, he has some unfathomable depth to him as well. In fact, I strongly recommend that everyone momentarily lay aside whatever they’re doing, and give Bill Murray a phone call. Take a little time to tell the big guy how much you love him, and how much his work means to you. Awww, c’mon, after all the joy his films have brought you over the years, be real and give a little of that love back:
