I have a friend who was raped at just 13 years old and got pregnant. She kept her baby. Her mom raised her for a few years but now the little girl is back with her Mom (my friend) and she is a sweet intelligent 8 year old girl.
 
Yep. I know two women who were raped at 17 or 18 and became pregnant. Both sought abortion but failed to abort. Both children are now in their teens, and are wonderful people who bring comfort to their mothers. I have never known a woman who was sorry she let her baby live, no matter how it was conceived. Even single, poor, young mothers of seriously disabled children that I’ve known are happy they have their children even on the bad days. Those who have given them up for adoption and still ache over that are still glad the children are in the world. Yet a majority of women I’ve known who aborted are or have been very depressed over it. The few who say it was no big deal have little idea what they aborted. So I find it hard to believe anyone really thinks of abortion as a relief for rape victims. It’s another invasion, one that turns the whole body into a dead mockery of its natural ways. Abortion is a surgical violation of the woman’s system and an emotional violation of her innocence. It is traumatic in itself.

Hmm. I don’t know. This is one particular issue which is very difficult. Without really being in the shoes of the individual women I think it is hard to make any sweeping statements.

I’m not sure what you mean, but I have been raped and I have been pregnant and aborted, though the incidents were unrelated, and the abortion was far more traumatizing. The two women I told of are glad their children are there for them now, in different ways, and I have never known a mother in my life to express to me a sincere wish that she had aborted, regardless of the way her child was conceived. I don’t know how sweeping that is. It’s my experience and that of the women I’ve known AFAIK, and a lot of women with a lot of different worldviews have spoken openly with me about their experiences. Motherhood can heal, and abortion can only hurt, though it doesn’t seem to hurt us all to the same degree.
