I think when it comes to loved ones and the whole “there is no need of marriage in heaven” or the “Beatrical Vision” they fear is this, a myth which mortal minds can play on themselves (speaking from experience)

They think heaven lobotomizes and “reprograms you” or you lose who you are. I know because I feared that for a while.

But then I realized, God would never do such a thing because it would defeat why he made me in the first place.

You DONT lose who you are or get some “happy lobotomy”

In fact its the exact OPPOSITE

lets look at this as this;

Marriage as we know it is like a license to be bonded to the one you have true love to, In heaven there are no need for such petty laws or legal issues which Marriage requires, that love that you have with him/her will still be there and even GREATER, same goes with family and loved ones! and

Best of all you will be able to see the Face of God himself, and its not like staring at him for the rest of your existence, but rather you can now be able to see him any time you so desired, and it would be like having to wait in line every time you wanted to.

and even though heaven is not physical realm doesn’t mean it won’t feel that way, it will and even MORE.

Now how it looks as a kingdom…well this sounds like a bit of a stretch but I think its whole appearance is to the eye of the beholder, for example, Im into art deco and oldies fashion and themes, so perhaps it will appear as an Art Deco Utopia (but lets remember this is just by Mortal Comprehension)

Also you will be able to encounter famous and historical good figures, and the strange and bizarre Angels along with them.

A travlers guide to heaven I recommend to many to further understand.

…or some people could fear heaven who have a fear of heights! 😉

I’ve heard some say that the image some have of heaven is one of being on a cloud, playing a harp…for all eternity! lol

Interesting argument. I was actually afraid someone was going to argue the sort of ‘happy lobotomy’ you described. Instead, you actually make a nice case for it. Not bad! 👍

Now if only someone would step in talk about the fear of meeting the religious people you never liked in life. :o For me, that’s my real reason for thinking heaven twice.

In case you haven’t heard the line, there are those of us who say, “Lord, save us from your fan club!”

Heaven most certainly will be a physical realm. It will be a new earth where we will have our glorified bodies.

Obviously we can only ponder at details but id encourage you to read anything by C.S Lewis, who paints amazing pictures which are theologically sound. 👍

I think what people fear most is giving up a lot of good things here on earth to get heaven and then not getting heaven, so people hold on to things here.

Remember, Heaven is really not a physical place (the New Earth paradise is extra). Rather, Heaven is first and foremost seeing God as He is (Beatific Vision) and participating in His Divine Nature by means of Grace. Thus the Apostle Peter writes:
God has bestowed on us high and treasured promises; you are to share the divine nature, with the world’s corruption, the world’s passions, left behind.
The beginning of The Kingdom is already here: It starts with purgation here on Earth, then after death is continued in purgatory (if you didn’t purge all of your attachment to sin on Earth) and continues on forever in Heaven proper (with the resurrection happening eventually: remember we are spiritual animals. We are supposed to have a body). Notice how I used “continues on”, rather than “ends.” Heaven is not static, but dynamic. If you look at Renaissance paintings of Heaven you will always find movement with the human figures. C. S. Lewis, in The Last Battle, also describes how the more you travel into the New Narnia (metaphorically Heaven), the bigger it becomes.

For those who think that Heaven turns us into God’s mindless praising machines, my understanding has been quite different: it is those who are closest to Heaven, the Saints, who have the most vivid personalities. The Saints are never boring people. Think of St. Francis, or St. Therese, or St. Joan of Arc. We don’t lose our personality when we become Holy, when we give our life to the Lord, rather we find it. Thus the Lord says:
He who secures his own life will lose it; it is the man who loses his life for my sake that will secure it.
God is infinite, or in-finite, meaning “not finite.” There is no end to the Joy He will bring us.
I am Alpha, I am Omega, I am before all, I am at the end of all, the beginning of all things and their end.
We were begun by Him in order to end in Him.

Christi pax,

Lucretius

Exactly thats precisely what I mean

Oddly enough, some of the most vocal opponents of a Heaven where you “do nothing but praise God all day” have no problem at all of standing out in the cold for hours, waiting in line to see a rock star, or buy tickets to a sporting event or fandom convention–where they can then proceed to praise their idol from afar…

So it’s only okay to want something real bad as long as it’s God in all His halo-ed glory?

Thank you for justifying my own reprobate’s prayer to the Almighty when it comes to sparing me from His fan club.
