All, I have been wondering, why are us men and women so inclined (not all) to the sins of pleasure, and lust??? Even if we know that the last time around, saying we went to confession, was bad for us, why in our minds do we still feel this inclination??????????????????

it’s called concupiscience I believe (there’s no way I spelled that right:D )

One of the effects of original sin.

The above is certainly true. We sin. We are forgiven at confession - yes we are forgiven, but the “appitite” for sin was not lost, it remained.

Simply, as we get closer to the Trinity we gat farther fon the appitite from. Some have said purgatory gets rid of our propensity to sin.

Dear Misericordie,

When we have the ‘mind of Christ Jesus’ through the power of His Holy Spirit living within us, sin loses its appeal over us and we have great interior strength to abhor it and repel it. Trust me, I am a sinner and I know the difference in dispelling captivating thoughts and lusts as soon as they make their appearance, and entertaining them through not being quite willing to give it up.

After we have conceived a vehement detest for the lie that lust is, it is far easier to fight the temptations that arise in our flesh and cry out for satisfaction. The will is in control, and reason will intervene, being absolutely in love with God and His holy laws.

Perfect love casts out any shadow of self-gratification that is outside of God’s holy law. I remember reading that St. Francis threw himself into a rosebush in order not to give in to a temptation, so much the stronger was his will and his love of God.

If I were in your shoes, I would work on a deeper relationship with the Lord, begging Him to infuse you with strength to live your baptismal promises: "Do you reject Satan, and all his empty promises? May we hear a loud …

I DO!

Dear Miseri,

As I took this matter to prayer, I had the remembrance of a scripture that might help you to see the value in what I tried to say above. It dealt with a penitent woman. Try to imagine the entire scene fully. She poured out her whole being at Jesus’s feet, bathing them with her tears, drying them with her hair, perfuming them with oil, while those at table wondered greatly that He was allowing this touch from a notorious sinner.

I remember Jesus saying something like, “Many sins are forgiven her, because she has loved much!” (Lk. Chapter 7)

Can anyone possibly imagine a conversion so powerful! – a love so great! – that she would leave His sacred presence and go back out in the street to sin again? Not on your rinny-tin-tin!

This is the kind of love that is chaste, pure, undefiled, forgiven, restored, and brought to new life, reborn to a new walk with Christ that never turns back! May we all experience that same grace of conversion and never to cease to beg God for it.
