Why is embyonic stem cell reearch wrong?

I’m sorry, but I actually know nothing about embryonic stem cell research and why we oppose it. Could someone fill me in?
 
Embryonic stem cell research creates embryos from pre-existing clumps of human embryos, thus in a way creating other human beings. These clumps of embryonic cells are then used for scientific research. Thus it is essentially using harmful tests on human beings.

Not only that but Embryonic stem cell research is very experimental and has yielded few positive results (they did fuse a broken bone on the spine of a mouse thus allowing it to have full mobility again, only to have those embryonic cells then become cancerous, as they usually do) while Adult stem cell research (approved by the Church) has yielded and still yields many positive results.
 
If an embryo is created naturally, then it should have the right to form into a full human being as it was intended to do. Destroying it, even if it would save another’s life would still be murder.

If it was created un-naturally, by artificial means, then that would be wrong because it is the act of procreation outside of the marriage which would go against the natural way God created. I don’t know if the church could/would ever flex on this for that reason, even if only one embryo was produced/fertilized.

If multiple embryos were created, but never used that would be wasting additional lives.

What I have heard is that the reason science wants to do research on embryo stem cells is because they are more viable, perhaps a more pure sample of the miracle that God created in them to become any human cell (which would make them a target for replacing hard/impossible to grow otherwise, cells).

But, some scientist are working on adult stem cell research and I have read that there is some promise in that, although maybe going much slower than it would be with the other.

It all goes back to marriage is between man and woman, sex is the means to assist God in (pro)creation, and that is a gift to be shared only within a marriage. (The doctor, a surrogate, multiple partners, whatever are not included in this special union of man+woman+God+His gifts)

Now, having said all of that.

Why did God give man the knowledge to do such wonderous things through science?
Perhaps we should wonder why we are not using this knowledge AND respecting God’s wish to keep ALL life special and safe.
If this science brought a couple a baby when they could not already conceive on their own, wouldn’t that be a miracle?
Yes, but at what price? What if the other embryos created died or were wasted in the process?

It may be hard for some people to distinguish between cells and a personality. But imagine your youngest child. Now imagine your oldest child. Now imagine the heart of your youngest child being cut out and placed into the chest of your oldest to save their life. Seems horrible, doesn’t it? It breaks my heart to even type that. But life is life, precious in His eyes and it should be precious in ours as well.

The gate we must pass through is not easy. It may be hard to live as God planned, but we must strive to get through the gate. (Haven’t I heard that somewhere lately?)

Unlike embryonic stem cells that kill human embryos, pluipotent stem cells are harvested from skin or tissue cells and grown.

Embryonic stem cells, when used, are known to induce cancer.
 
Wait, lets be clear on one thing. Its not the research that the Church is against, its because that embryos are made and then destroyed to research embryonic stem cells. So the Church is against destroying embryos.

The Church is for stem cell research that does not involve destruction of a new human being. Cord Blood Stem Cells, Adult Stem Cells, etc, are not opposed by the Church.

Proponents of Embryonic stem cell research usually say “Stem cell research” in order to confuse the public.

“How can you be against curing horrible diseases?”, they say as they trot out patients afflicted with diseases that they claim can be cured by “stem cell research”, which “the Church opposes”.

They never make the distinction between embryonic and adult stem cell research. But if they are called on it, then they say that these embryos are going to waste anyway, so why not use them for a cure?

Use them for a cure indeed. Nazi Germany did the very same thing with those in concentration camps, conducting unspeakable evil in the form of “medical experiments” on inmates. Hey, they were going to die anyway, so why not use them for experimentation and help out the Master Race with what they learned?

May I suggest that that the “gate” reference is probably from Luke 13:23-30.(It was the Gospel reading in our Mass on Sunday last.)
