I really don’t understand the meaning of The Word (even though I saw the site in Nazareth)? Why is Jesus called The Word?

Thanks.

Greek logos , word, speech, reason. Logos is St. John’s name for the second person of the Holy Trinity.

Catechism of the Catholic Church
291 "In the beginning was the Word. . . and the Word was God. . . all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made."129 The New Testament reveals that God created everything by the eternal Word, his beloved Son. In him "all things were created, in heaven and on earth… . all things were created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together."130 The Church’s faith likewise confesses the creative action of the Holy Spirit, the “giver of life”, “the Creator Spirit” ( Veni, Creator Spiritus ), the “source of every good”.131

Yes, I know that but why did John use “Word” to mean the Son of God.

OK. You’re the first person who gave me this answer. Not that I fully understand it but I’ll check it out.
Thank you.

To the ancient Greeks, the Logos is the principle controlling the universe.

GOD speaks and everything IS.
And Jesus is the Word made flesh.
HE became one of us and the Word was manifest among us.
Peace!

A word is something you say, and Jesus was the personification of everything God wanted to say to us.
