Why is Jesus the Son of God?

Why refer to Jesus as the “Son” of God? Jesus is God. “Son” implies subordinate.
 
Jesus is God, but there are three Persons in the one God. The Son is the second Person of the Trinity. He is called “Son” because he was “begotten, not made” from the first Person of the Trinity, the Father. “Son” also implies that the second Person is the image of the first Person.
